Role: The executive director is responsible to implement the organization’s strategic plan, advocate for and support staff, manage the overall budget, fundraise and more.

Education: BA Technical Communication, Minor Spanish; Master in Business Administration

Experience: Board leadership for 10+ years including a Governor-appointed State Economic Development Board

Awards/Honors: Social Responsibility Award from Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce; Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Leadership Denver

Axumawit Teklu

Assistant Director

Employment status: Part time

Role: The assistant Director assists the Executive Director in the daily operations of the community center, implement the vision, mission and programs of the center as well as oversee staff and budgets.

Education: BA in Environmental Policy & MPH in Global Environmental Health

Experience: Held various leadership positions within school organizations, as well as local and national Tigrayan organizations ranging from Secretary, VP, and Treasurer.

Meezer Girmay

Youth Program Director

Employment status: Part time

Role: The Youth Program Director for Tigray Community of Colorado oversees and coordinates initiatives aimed at the development and well-being of young individuals within the Tigrayan community in Colorado.

Education: B.A. Political Science, minor in Ethnic Studies

Experience: Served as a legislative intern for Senator Catherine Cortez Masto through the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Walmart Emerging Leaders Congressional Internship program.

Fitwi Meles

Office Manager

Employment status: Part time

Role: The office manager oversees the overall office activities to ensure efficiency and day-to-day operations of the organization are ongoing. 

Education: BSc (Medical Lab Technology), MPH (Epidemiology)

Experience: Seventeen years of experience in the health sector at national and international positions both in Ethiopia and African countries with Government, NGOs and United Nations.
