Support your community

We are community organization established with a vision of becoming a lighthouse for generations of Tigrayans who are thriving in Colorado. Encouraging people to lead engaged lives of meaning and purpose is our mission.  The community center is a primary destination for Tigrayan engagement, a locus of learning and celebration, and a connector to Tigrayan heritage.

With limited capacity and resources, we’ve achieved several goals during the last few years. Thanks to supportive members like you, we earned “Community of the Year” by Tigray Community Forum at Wa’ela Tigray in Dallas in 2022.

The community feels so excited to announce that we were able to register Ashenda as one of Colorado’s Honorable Festivals by Denver City Council. The community hosts annual Ashenda “Black Girl Magic” Festival at Axum Park to celebrate sisterhood, womanhood and girls empowerment.

We also host an annual Camp Tigray for young people to explore issues of identity, culture, healthy lifestyle choices and mental wellness. Weekly Tigrigna language classes for children to gain reading and writing in the indigenous Tigrinya language is also another mission we are actively working on Saturdays.

Now, we’re at a very important project: building our center. We need your support more than any other time.
